You "Present" the Slack in front of the tensioner.
Having an assistant "Drum" on the Tensioner while you manipulate the Chain, ... helps.
Pull the Plugs
Remove the Crank-cover and put a Wrench on the Flats.
Smoothly turn the Engine over 4-times Clockwise beginning at the TDC Mark.
Slowly come to a stop at the end of the 4 turns.
Have the asst begin tapping on the end of the tensioner, ...
Then, ...
In a swift motion, ...
Jack the Crank over ... Counter-clockwise ... presenting any slack in the Chain in front of the
Tensioner.
The Tensioner should react and extend to remove the slack.
